A Special Needs School in Bradford are seeking an experienced Teaching Assistant to join their existing team this term. This is a full time role, on a temporary basis, with the opportunity to apply for a permanent role within the school following a successful probationary period.
The school is situated in the Heaton area of Bradford and is easily accessible by both car and public transport from Leeds, Shipley and the surrounding areas. A generic special school with 250 pupils aged 2-19, the school are committed to meeting the needs of all learners, with an emphasis on positive personal and social development. The school benefits from an on-site medical team and in house Speech and Language Therapists, and a team of Autism Specialist Teachers who regularly attend school to provide specific training.
You must have experience of supporting pupils with additional learning needs (Autism, PMLD, and SEMH) and be confident in supporting individual pupils with their personal care needs. You may also have additional training in Team Teach, Moving and Handling, PECs, Intensive Interaction and/or Autism Awareness, or be committed to completing the training as part of your role.
You will be dedicated to providing holistic support to pupils to ensure both academic and personal achievement goals are met. You will possess excellent communication skills, with the ability to liaise with a multi-disciplinary team and with parents/carers. Knowledge and understanding of Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCP) is essential.
An experience within a school and direct experience working with children is desired but not essential as we also look for in background knowledge in areas such as:
- Health and Social Care
- Youth Work
- Play Therapy
- Psychology
- Counselling
- Social Work
We will also welcome applications from individuals who may have personal experience with Special Educational Needs.
Working with Teaching Personnel, you will have exclusive access to training through our CPD academy. You will work closely with a personal consultant, dedicated to supporting you to find your ideal role.
