Special Educational Needs Teaching Assistant needed ASAP

Teaching Personnel are currently looking to assign a SEN Teaching Assistant with aspirations for an immediate start in the Bude/Launceston Area.

The role involves working between Mondays - Friday, school hours.

Pay Scale £57 - £65 per day, depending on experience

The school has pupils with moderate to severe learning difficulties. You will need to be flexible about working in the different areas of the school, supporting pupils with a range of additional needs.

The school caters for pupils who have co-existing conditions including ADHD, sensory processing disorder, learning difficulties, disruptive behaviours, emotional difficulties and epilepsy.

The following skills are desired, but not essential;

  • Team Teach (Training can be provided for this)
  • Moving and handling (Training can be provided for this)
  • Confidence to deal with difficult situations
  • Strong minded
  • Be able to think outside of the box
  • Classroom based experience
  • Good experience of the national curriculum
  • An excellent track record

You will be organised, punctual and confident when dealing with the pupils and their families and be able to deal with challenging and emotional behaviours using confidence and patience.

You must have experience in supporting children or adults who have Autism or have a close personal background with Autism.

The role is more challenging than a mainstream school, but the class sizes are a lot smaller, which will give you the opportunity to make a real difference and create close personal professional relationships.
