Our "good" Secondary school in a South Oxfordshire setting is currently recruiting for a new Special Needs Learning Mentor to join their Supported Learning Department in September 18.

The School

This school is considered "good" in it's recent Ofsted inspection in 2017 and has been consistently good for the last few academic years. Set in the heart of rural countryside between Reading and Oxford it affords the opportunity to take learning outside of the classroom environment. The Supported Learning Department you will be joining as the newest member of the team, will welcome you with lots support from established members of staff passionate about inclusive education. The team are able to offer interventions and 1:1 support for their students both within the classroom and outside of it and will tailor the plan uniquely to the pupil.

The Role

As the new SEN Learning Mentor you will be assigned a role working alongside a Y7 pupil with physical disabilities and who is wheelchair bound. You will have worked closely with Special Needs previously in a school or similar setting out in the community. The ideal individual for this position will work patiently and empathically with the pupil to build a trusting rapport so support can be offered to the pupil's emotional and academic achievement.

Essential

- Relevant degree or experience working with SEN

- Familiar with UK curriculum KS3-4

- Proven experience building rapport and trust on a 1:1 basis

Desirable

- SEN CPD

- Manual Handling Trained
