We are working with a school seeking a dedicated and compassionate Learning Support Assistant to join there committed team. They are proud to be the first school in Hampshire to receive the Autism Friendly Award from the National Autistic Society, reflecting an inclusive and supportive approach to education.

Catering to students aged 11–19 with ASC, this school school provides a structured, nurturing, and engaging environment where learners can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. They focus on developing each student’s individual strengths and supporting them to reach their full potential.

The Role:

As a Learning Support Assistant, you will work closely with teaching staff and other professionals to support students with a range of needs related to autism. Your role will be vital in helping students access the curriculum, build confidence, and achieve meaningful progress.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide tailored support to students on a 1:1 basis or in small groups
  • Implement strategies to support communication, emotional regulation, and social interaction
  • Promote independence and encourage personal development
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and families to ensure consistent support
  • Maintain a safe and inclusive learning environment

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Experience working with young people with ASC is desirable but not essential – training will be provided
  • A patient, empathetic, and positive approach
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of students

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
