SEND Tutor
Job description
Are you a patient, skilled educator who can inspire learners who find school challenging?
We’re searching for experienced SEND tutors to provide tailored Maths and English support to primary and secondary pupils in Witney and nearby areas.
Many of our students need extra encouragement and structure to thrive. They may be working below age-related expectations, have gaps in their learning, or experience challenges linked to autism, PDA (Pathological Demand Avoidance) or SEMH (Social, Emotional & Mental Health) needs. Some will also be Looked After Children (LAC) or come from disadvantaged backgrounds.
Your role will be to rebuild confidence, promote positive learning experiences, and help each pupil make meaningful academic progress.
What the role involves:

Providing 1:1 or small group tuition in Maths and English (Primary or Secondary level)

Delivering sessions in homes, libraries, schools, or online, depending on pupil needs

Committing to at least 10–15 hours per week, with flexible scheduling

Maintaining accurate attendance logs and detailed session reports for schools or the Local Authority
What we’re looking for:
-
A minimum of 2 years’ UK-based tutoring or teaching experience
-
Strong understanding and empathy for learners with autism, PDA, and SEMH needs
-
The ability to adapt teaching methods and build trust with pupils
-
Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail for reporting and communication
-
A genuine passion for improving outcomes for vulnerable young people

An Enhanced DBS check (current or willing to apply)

QTS or equivalent experience (desirable but not essential)

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
