SEND Teaching Assistant (Permanent)

Location: Wellingborough, Northamptonshire

Contract: Full-Time, Permanent

Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience

Start Date: September 2026

About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) Teaching Assistant to join a supportive school in Wellingborough on a permanent basis. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of pupils with additional needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with SEND (e.g. ASD, ADHD, SEMH, speech and language needs)
  • Assist the class teacher in delivering tailored learning activities
  • Support pupils’ emotional, social, and behavioural development
  • Help implement Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs)
  • Foster a safe, inclusive, and engaging learning environment

Requirements

  • Experience working with children with SEND (in a school or care setting)
  • Patient, empathetic, and resilient approach
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Relevant qualification (e.g. Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant) desirable but not essential
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
