SEND Teaching Assistant

Primary School | Lancaster

September 2026 Start

PAYE contract paid weekly

Teaching Personnel are working closely with a welcoming and inclusive primary school in Lancaster to recruit a SEND Teaching Assistant for a September start. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone passionate about supporting children with additional needs in a nurturing school environment.

The Role

As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), supporting their learning, development, and emotional wellbeing. You may be working 1:1 or in small groups, helping pupils to access the curriculum and reach their full potential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide tailored support to pupils with SEND (e.g. ASD, ADHD, SEMH, speech and language needs)
  • Assist the class teacher with inclusive lesson delivery
  • Support behaviour management and positive learning strategies
  • Build positive relationships with pupils, staff, and parents
  • Promote a safe, supportive, and engaging learning environment

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

  • Experience working with children with SEND (school-based or transferable experience considered)
  • A patient, compassionate, and proactive approach
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • A genuine passion for inclusive education
  • An enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
