SEND Teacher – Primary School

Location: Burnley
Contract: Full-time
Start Date: September 2026

A welcoming and inclusive primary school in Burnley is seeking a committed SEND Teacher to lead a specialist SEND unit from September 2026. This is a full-time, long-term opportunity for an experienced teacher with a passion for supporting pupils with additional needs.


Role Overview

You will be responsible for leading a SEND provision, delivering tailored teaching to pupils of mixed ages, abilities, and needs. The role involves working closely with Teaching Assistants to provide structured support and targeted interventions that enable all pupils to achieve their potential.


Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver differentiated lessons to meet a range of SEND needs
  • Lead and manage a SEND unit within the school
  • Work collaboratively with Teaching Assistants to support learning and development
  • Implement and monitor effective interventions
  • Track pupil progress and adapt provision accordingly
  • Liaise with parents, SENCO and external professionals
  • Create a safe, supportive and inclusive learning environment

Person Specification

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Experience working with SEND pupils (e.g. ASD, SEMH, MLD, SLD)
  • Strong understanding of differentiation and intervention strategies
  • Ability to lead and direct support staff effectively
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills
  • A patient, adaptable and proactive approach

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
