SEND Teaching Assistant (Wellingborough, NN8)
Are you an experienced Teaching Assistant, Support Worker or Care Professional with a passion for supporting children with Autism?
We are currently seeking dedicated and compassionate SEND Teaching Assistants to join specialist educational settings in the Wellingborough area. This rewarding role involves supporting pupils with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) and associated learning needs, helping them to thrive both academically and socially.
The Role
As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teachers and other professionals to provide tailored support to pupils, ensuring they can access learning and achieve their individual targets.
Key responsibilities include:
- Providing 1:1 and small group support for pupils with Autism
- Supporting communication, social interaction and emotional regulation
- Assisting with the delivery of personalised learning and intervention programmes
- Encouraging positive behaviour through consistency and structured routines
- Supporting sensory and emotional needs throughout the school day
- Building positive relationships with pupils, staff and families
- Monitoring progress and contributing to pupil development records
- Promoting independence, confidence and engagement in learning
The Ideal Candidate
- Experience working with children or young people with Autism and additional needs
- Previous experience within a school, SEND provision, care or support setting
- A calm, patient and nurturing approach
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- An understanding of behaviour management strategies
- Knowledge of PECS, Makaton, sensory regulation or communication aids is desirable
- A genuine passion for helping children achieve their full potential
- Relevant qualifications are beneficial but not essential
