SEN Teaching Assistant required - Birkenhead

Teaching Personnel are currently working with a secondary SEN school for children aged 11-19. Due to an increase in numbers of pupils being referred to the school, there is a higher demand for Support Staff. The school require people who are available on a day to day basis as well as those who are looking for longer term work as the school recognises that continuity of staff is essential for pupils with complex learning needs.

This school caters for pupils with SEN including: ASC, multi-sensory impairment, hearing or visual impairment with additional needs, profound and multiple learning disabilities, complex physical disabilities and additional medical needs including progressive and degenerative conditions.

To work at this school, you must have had solid experience working with children and/or young people with complex and severe learning disabilities including. As this role has a large personal care element, you must be comfortable with attending to childrens feeding and toileting needs. Additional training and experience such as Moving and Handling, Team-Teach/ MAPA, Peg feeding, PECS or Makaton would be highly beneficial.
