SEN Teaching Assistant

Job description

Teaching Personnel are supporting a friendly, inclusive 2-form entry primary school in Lewisham to recruit a specialist teaching assistant. The role involves working on a 1:1 basis with a student with Down’s Syndrome. This role will be based in the classroom and the successful applicant will be supporting the student with their individual work.

This position is full time (Monday-Friday 8:30am-3:30pm).


  • Experience working with children with Down’s Syndrome
  • An excellent understanding of the needs of a Down’s Syndrome student and the ability to tailor to these
  • Experience working in a primary school is highly desirable

The school will provide detailed plans and information to ensure the successful applicant has an understanding of the student’s needs prior to beginning the position. The school will also offer ongoing support to the applicant to ensure they are successful and knowledgeable in their role. The role is set to end at the end of the academic year, but has the possibility to go permanent for the right candidate.

The school is easily accessible by public transport and there is parking available.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
