SEN Teaching Assistant
Job description
Teaching Personnel are working in partnership with a specialist SEN school in Widnes who are seeking a positive and enthusiastic Primary SEN Teaching Assistant to join their committed team. They have both full-time and part-time roles available, offering a rewarding opportunity to support children with a range of special educational needs in a nurturing, inclusive environment.
About the role:
- Start-date: 2nd June
- Ongoing/long-term, part-time and full-time roles available
- Opportunity to earn £90-£110 per day (dependent on experience)
As a Primary SEN TA, you will work closely with teachers and other professionals to support pupils with diverse needs including autism, ADHD, speech and language difficulties, and social, emotional, and mental health challenges. You’ll deliver tailored support to individuals and small groups, assist with EHCP implementation, and promote positive behaviour and emotional well-being throughout the school day. Some personal care support may be required depending on individual pupil needs.
Requirements:
- Experience working with children with SEN (in school, care, or similar settings)
- A patient, empathetic, and resilient approach
- Ability to build strong relationships with pupils, staff, and families
- Confidence supporting learning across the primary curriculum
- Understanding of safeguarding and child protection practices
- Relevant qualifications (e.g. CACHE Level 2/3, TA qualification) – desirable but not essential
- A commitment to inclusive education and helping every child thrive

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
