Salary: £13.75 an hour

SEN Teaching Assistant

Are you passionate about supporting young people with special educational needs?

If you answered yes, then this job opportunity for an SEN / SEMH Teaching Assistant may be for you! An Alternative Education Provision School in Wareham is seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join their team.

 

The Role:

You will be responsible for supporting classroom teachers in providing the best support possible to students ranging in the ages 8-18 years old, with various SEN and behavioural difficulties such as:

  • Complex and persistent SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) needs
  • Autism Spectrum Condition
  • Speech, language and communication needs
  • Anxiety, depression, and other mental health challenges
  • Pupils may also be awaiting CAMHS assessment/treatment

Many have struggled to engage with mainstream education due to social, emotional, or sensory challenges.

 

Who We Are Looking For:

  • Applicant must be comfortable working in a PRU / Alternative Provision setting
  • A patient, resilient, innovative and caring individual with a compassionate approach to supporting young people
  • SEMH experience in or out of an educational setting
  • SEN(D) experience in or out of an educational setting
  • Able to collaborate with teachers and other support staff
  • Understanding of positive behaviour support strategies
  • Able to de-escalate challenging situations calmly and safely

 

Working Hours/Benefits:

  • Full Time
  • Monday-Friday = 08:30 – 15:00

  • 12.07% Holiday Pay
  • Please note, this role is Term-Time Only
