SEN Teaching Assistant (SEN TA) – September 2026 Start
Location: SR4, Sunderland
Start Date: September 2026 (New Academic Year)
Contract: Full-Time (Monday to Friday)
Pay: Competitive daily rate of £92–£105, depending on experience
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming school in the SR4 area of Sunderland from September 2026.
This is a full-time role supporting pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN). The successful candidate will play a vital role in helping students achieve their full potential by providing tailored support both in and out of the classroom. Competitive daily rate of £92–£105, depending on experience.
The Ideal Candidate Will:
- Have previous experience supporting children or young people with Special Educational Needs (desirable but not essential).
- Hold a valid Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or be willing to obtain one.
- Be available to work five days per week (Monday–Friday).
- Be patient, caring, resilient, and adaptable.
- Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Be committed to creating a positive, inclusive learning environment.
- Work effectively as part of a supportive school team.
The Role Includes:
- Providing one-to-one and small group support for pupils with additional needs.
- Assisting the class teacher in delivering engaging learning activities.
- Supporting pupils' academic, social, and emotional development.
- Encouraging independence while promoting confidence and wellbeing.
- Helping to implement individual learning and behaviour support plans where required.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
