Job description

 SEN Teaching Assistant

Location:

Stockport, Greater Manchester

Job Duties:

  • Supporting students with special educational needs (SEN) in their learning and development.
  • Assisting the class teacher in implementing individual education plans (IEPs) for students with SEN.
  • Providing one-to-one support to students with SEN to help them access the curriculum.
  • Helping to create a supportive and inclusive learning environment for all students.
  • Collaborating with the SENCO (Special Educational Needs Coordinator) and other staff members to ensure the needs of students with SEN are met.
  • Assisting with the planning and delivery of lessons, including adapting materials and resources to suit the needs of students with SEN.
  • Monitoring and recording the progress of students with SEN and reporting back to the class teacher and SENCO.

Experience required:

  • Previous experience working with students with SEN in an educational/ care setting or through personal experience. 

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Understanding of different types of special educational needs and how they can impact learning.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with students, teachers, and parents/carers.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to work as part of a team.
  • Patience, empathy, and a positive attitude towards supporting students with SEN.

Working Conditions:

This role is based in a school setting and may involve working with students on a one-to-one basis or in small groups. The work may be physically demanding at times, and the ability to be flexible and adapt to the needs of students is essential.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
