Job description

Learning Support Assistant – Full Time - Southampton
Infant School Setting | Nurturing, Inclusive, Child-Centred

Our dedicated teaching team is seeking a compassionate and skilled Learning Support Assistant to join one of our welcoming infant schools in the local area. This is a full-time position for an educator who is passionate about supporting young learners and enabling every child to flourish.

The importance of patience, empathy and consistency — particularly when supporting children with Special Educational Needs is required in educators who are applying. We are therefore looking for a colleague who brings experience of working with SEN pupils within a mainstream classroom, and who can confidently adapt learning to meet individual needs while maintaining high expectations for all.

The successful candidate will:

  • Have proven experience supporting children with a range of SEN needs in a mainstream setting

  • Work collaboratively with class teachers to deliver tailored interventions and in-class support

  • Demonstrate a secure understanding of early years and Key Stage 1 development

  • Foster positive relationships built on trust, encouragement and clear boundaries

  • Be proactive, observant and responsive to children’s emotional and learning needs

  • Contribute to planning, assessment and pupil progress discussions where appropriate

In our infant schools, we value educators who recognise that every small step is significant. You will play a vital role in helping children build confidence, independence and a love of learning during these formative years.

In return, we offer:

  • A supportive and experienced teaching team

  • A nurturing and inclusive school ethos

  • Ongoing professional development opportunities

  • The opportunity to make a meaningful difference every single day

If you are an enthusiastic and reflective practitioner who believes that inclusion is at the heart of outstanding education, we would be delighted to hear from you.

All applicants will require the appropriate qualifications and training for this role. Please see the FAQ’s on the Teaching Personnel website for details.
All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
