Teaching Personnel is seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN 1:1 Teaching Assistant to work full-time from September in one of our welcoming partner infant schools in Poole.
This rewarding role involves providing dedicated one-to-one support for a child with an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP). Working closely with the class teacher and SENDCo, you will play a key role in helping the child access learning, achieve their individual targets and develop both academically and socially within a supportive classroom environment.
The Role
As the child's dedicated 1:1 Teaching Assistant, you will:
- Provide consistent one-to-one support throughout the school day.
- Deliver strategies and interventions outlined within the child's EHCP.
- Adapt learning activities and resources to meet the child's individual needs.
- Support communication, emotional regulation and positive behaviour.
- Encourage independence, confidence and inclusion in all aspects of school life.
- Build a positive, trusting relationship to help the child feel safe, engaged and motivated to learn.
- Work closely with the class teacher, SENDCo and external professionals to monitor progress and support the child's development.
- Record observations and contribute to reviewing targets and progress.
- Support with personal care where required.
The Ideal Candidate
We are looking for someone who:
- Has experience supporting children with Special Educational Needs, ideally within a school setting.
- Is patient, caring and resilient, with a genuine passion for helping children succeed.
- Can build positive relationships with pupils, colleagues and families.
- Is adaptable, proactive and able to use their initiative.
- Has strong communication skills and enjoys working as part of a team.
Experience supporting children with Autism (ASC), ADHD, Speech and Language needs, SEMH or other additional needs would be advantageous but is not essential.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
