Job Title: SEN Teaching Assistant

Location: England, East Midlands, Northamptonshire

Job Type: Temporary, Full-Time

Salary: £80 - £90 Per day

We are currently seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN (Special Educational Needs) Teaching Assistant to join our team in Northamptonshire. As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting the educational and personal development of students with special needs.

Job Duties:

  • Provide one-on-one and group support to students with special educational needs, assisting them with their academic and personal growth.
  • Collaborate with the class teacher and other professionals to create and implement individualised education plans (IEPs) for students.
  • Support students with their learning activities, ensuring they are engaged and making progress according to their abilities.
  • Assist in the preparation of classroom materials and resources, adapting them to meet the specific needs of students with special needs.
  • Promote a positive and inclusive learning environment, fostering a sense of belonging and empowerment for all students.
  • Monitor and record students' progress, providing feedback to the class teacher and parents/guardians as necessary.
  • Manage challenging behaviours effectively, following established strategies and protocols.
  • Collaborate with other professionals, such as speech and language therapists and occupational therapists, to support students' additional needs.
  • Attend relevant training sessions and professional development opportunities to enhance knowledge and skills in special education.
  • Adhere to safeguarding policies and procedures, ensuring the safety and well-being of all students.

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum of GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Mathematics.
  • Experience working with children or young people with special educational needs.
  • Understanding of the SEN Code of Practise and current legislation relating to special education.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with students, parents/guardians, and colleagues.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Education:

  • GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Mathematics.
  • Additional qualifications in special education or relevant field are desirable.

Experience:

  • Previous experience working with children or young people with special educational needs.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Knowledge of special educational needs and strategies for supporting students with diverse needs.
  • Understanding of different learning styles and the ability to adapt teaching methods accordingly.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills.
  • Ability to effectively manage challenging behaviours.
  • Proficient in using technology and educational software to support learning.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Additional qualifications in special education or relevant field.
  • Training in specific interventions or approaches for supporting students with special needs.

Working Conditions:

  • This is a temporary position, expected to work full-time hours.
  • The role is based in Northamptonshire, England.
  • You will primarily work within an educational setting, collaborating with teachers and other professionals.
  • Occasional attendance at training sessions and meetings may be required.
