Job description

Job Title: SEN Teaching Assistant
Location: Newcastle upon Tyne
Contract: Full-time / Part-time (term-time only)
Salary: Competitive, depending on experience

We are seeking a caring and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join a supportive school in Newcastle upon Tyne. You will work closely with teachers and support staff to assist pupils with Special Educational Needs, helping them access learning, build confidence, and achieve their potential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support students with a range of SEN, including autism, ADHD, and learning difficulties

  • Provide one-to-one and small group support in the classroom

  • Assist the class teacher in delivering engaging and inclusive lessons

  • Help implement individual education plans (IEPs) and behaviour strategies

  • Encourage positive social and emotional development

Requirements:

  • Experience working with children or young people with SEN (preferred)

  • A patient, empathetic, and proactive approach

  • Strong communication and teamwork skills

  • Relevant qualifications or training are desirable but not essential
