Job description

Location: Kidderminster, DY11

Teaching Personnel is seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to support one of our specialist SEMH education partners in the Kidderminster (DY11) area.

About the Role

This role involves supporting pupils who have experienced barriers to learning, often due to SEMH needs, Autism (ASD) and ADHD. You will work within a small, nurturing setting that prioritises emotional wellbeing, consistency and relationship‑based practice.

Working closely with teachers, behaviour leads and the SENCO, you’ll help pupils re‑engage with learning, develop self‑regulation strategies and build the confidence needed to thrive both in and out of the classroom.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide personalised one‑to‑one and small‑group support

  • Adapt activities and resources to meet individual needs and learning styles

  • Follow EHCPs, behaviour plans and therapeutic approaches

  • Support emotional regulation using de‑escalation strategies and predictable routines

  • Promote positive communication, social interaction and resilience

  • Use visual supports, sensory tools and structured interventions

  • Track and record pupil progress, sharing observations with staff

  • Contribute to a calm, safe and consistent learning environment

  • Support pupils during transitions, break times and community‑based activities

  • Encourage independence, self‑esteem and positive decision‑making

About You

  • Passionate about supporting children with SEMH and SEND

  • Calm, patient and able to maintain boundaries with warmth

  • Strong communicator who builds trust through consistency

  • Proactive, adaptable and confident working as part of a small team

  • Emotionally resilient, reflective and committed to trauma‑informed practice

Requirements

  • Willing to complete a DBS check or provide an updated certificate

  • Able to provide two references

  • Proof of right to work in the UK

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
