SEN Teaching Assistant
Location - Hedge End
Contract - Full Time and Part Time
Start date - January 2026
What You Bring
- Experience supporting children with Special Educational Needs (SEN) in a school or similar setting
- A calm, empathetic and patient approach to behaviour and communication
- Strong teamwork and communication skills, with the ability to build positive, trusting relationships
- Flexibility to provide support tailored to each child’s individual needs
- Reliability, resilience and a proactive attitude
- A relevant qualification such as Level 2 or Level 3 in Supporting Teaching & Learning (desirable but not essential)
Your Role & Responsibilities
- Offer personalised 1:1 or small-group support to pupils with a variety of additional or special educational needs
- Work alongside class teachers and SENCOs to deliver structured, engaging and accessible learning activities
- Use effective strategies to promote emotional regulation, communication and positive behaviour
- Prepare or adapt resources in line with individual learning plans (EHCPs)
- Help maintain a safe, consistent and supportive environment for all pupils
- Collaborate closely with staff and parents to ensure every child feels understood, included and valued

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
