A welcoming and inclusive secondary school in Fareham is looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic part time teaching assistant to join their team. This is a fantastic opportunity for an individual who is passionate about supporting students in their academic and personal development. The successful candidate will work closely with teachers and other support staff to create a positive and productive learning environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Supporting Learning: Assist teachers in delivering lessons by providing one-on-one or small group support to students, ensuring that all learners can access the curriculum effectively.
- Classroom Management: Help maintain a safe and orderly classroom environment by managing student behaviour and reinforcing school policies.
- Individualised Support: Provide tailored assistance to students with special educational needs (SEN), helping them to overcome barriers to learning and achieve their full potential.
- Resource Preparation: Assist with preparing classroom materials, setting up activities, and organising resources to support effective teaching and learning.
- Monitoring Progress: Help track and document students' progress, providing feedback to teachers and contributing to student assessments.
- Promoting Positive Relationships: Build strong, supportive relationships with students, encouraging their confidence, independence, and positive social interactions.
- Administrative Tasks: Assist with administrative duties such as photocopying, filing, and record-keeping to support the smooth running of the school.
Requirements:
- A genuine passion for education and a desire to help students succeed.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to build effective relationships with students and staff.
- Patience, empathy, and the ability to adapt to the needs of individual students.
- Experience working with children or young people, ideally in a school setting is preferred.
- A proactive and flexible approach, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Basic IT skills and the ability to use educational software and technology.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
