SEN Teaching Assistant Required for 1:1 support for a child who has Autism
One of our schools is currently recruiting for a Teaching Assistant to support and assist a child with Autism withing the Foundation Phase through their education for the next academic year. The position is to start from January and is guaranteed until July 2024.
What is Autism?
It simply means your brain works differently from other people. Because of this, people with Autism sometimes find it hard to communicate with others, they struggle understanding others’ feelings and can find things like bright lights overwhelming, stressful or uncomfortable. Autism is classed as a Spectrum Disorder, so it affects everyone differently - everyone has different triggers.
What is expected of me in the job?
The day-to-day duties of a Teaching Assistant will be to work on a 1:1 basis with a specific student who has Autism Spectrum Disorder. You will be expected to greet the student when they arrive in the morning, and work with them throughout their school day. Assisting them in understanding their school tasks, supporting their needs, and communicating with them effectively throughout the day.
What is required to be a TA?
- No formal teaching qualifications are necessary
- Minimum 5 GCSEs in core subjects
- DBS Certificate on the Update Service (assistance from TP provided)
- Registration with EWC (assistance from TP provided)
- Passion for education

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
