SEN Teaching Assistant – Secondary School
Location: Colne
Hours: Monday – Friday, 8:30am – 3:30pm
Pay: £13.75 per hour

We are currently seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic SEN Teaching Assistant to join a supportive secondary Special Educational Needs (SEN) school in Colne. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is passionate about helping young people with additional needs thrive in a positive and structured learning environment.

About the School:
This is a specialist secondary school catering to pupils aged 11–16 with a range of special educational needs and disabilities, including autism, ADHD, moderate learning difficulties, and social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs. The school provides a nurturing and inclusive environment, where students receive tailored support to help them reach their full potential both academically and personally.

Your Role:
As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital part in supporting students on a one-to-one or small group basis. You will work closely with class teachers and other support staff to adapt lessons, manage behaviour, and help create an environment where every student can succeed.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supporting students with their learning, emotional regulation, and communication needs

  • Assisting with the preparation of learning materials

  • Providing one-to-one or small group interventions where required

  • Helping to manage classroom behaviour in a calm and consistent manner

  • Supporting the development of students’ confidence, independence, and life skills

  • Working collaboratively with staff, parents, and external professionals

What We're Looking For:

  • Experience working with children or young people with SEN is desirable but not essential

  • A patient, resilient, and adaptable approach to supporting learning

  • Strong communication and teamwork skills

  • A genuine interest in helping young people with additional needs

  • Ability to commit to the role on a long-term basis
