Specialist SEN Teaching Assistants wanted!
Job Title: Specialist SEN Teaching Assistant (Full-Time, Immediate Start)
Location: Bury St Edmunds
We are currently seeking experienced Specialist SEN Teaching Assistants for full-time positions at an Outstanding-rated specialist school in Bury St Edmunds, starting immediately and running until Christmas, with a high likelihood of extension for the right candidates.
A full driving licence is a MUST!
About the Role:
You will play a vital role in supporting young people aged 5–18 with Moderate Learning Difficulties in a nurturing and structured learning environment. Working closely with teachers, therapists, and other staff, you will contribute to the holistic development of each student, helping them to reach their full potential.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide tailored, one-to-one and small-group support to students with MLD and additional needs.
- Assist in planning and delivering lessons under the guidance of the classroom teacher.
- Support emotional, social, and behavioural development.
- Help maintain a calm, inclusive, and engaging classroom environment.
- Monitor student progress and provide feedback to teaching staff.
Requirements:
- Proven experience working with children or young people with SEN, preferably MLD.
- Full UK Driving Licence – essential due to location and occasional off-site activities.
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service – highly advantageous (or willingness to apply for one).
- Excellent communication, patience, and a proactive attitude.
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
