SEN Teaching Assistant – Burgess Hill

Are you a caring and motivated SEN Teaching Assistant looking for a rewarding role in education?

We are seeking a dedicated individual to join a welcoming primary school in Burgess Hill, supporting pupils with a range of Special Educational Needs (SEN). This is a fantastic opportunity to make a real difference while gaining valuable experience in a supportive school environment.

This role is ideal for candidates with experience as a Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant (LSA), SEN Support Worker, or those looking to start a career in education.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support pupils with a range of Special Educational Needs (SEN) on a 1:1 basis and in small groups
  • Work with children with autism (ASC), ADHD, speech and language needs, and SEMH
  • Assist in delivering targeted interventions and personalised learning support
  • Work closely with the SENCo and class teachers to implement EHCP targets
  • Support pupils’ social, emotional, and academic development
  • Help maintain a positive, inclusive, and engaging learning environment

Requirements

  • Experience working with children or young people (school or care setting desirable)
  • A strong interest in SEN and inclusive education
  • Patient, nurturing, and adaptable approach
  • Good communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to take initiative and follow guidance from teaching staff
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)

Desirable

  • Experience supporting pupils with EHCPs
  • Relevant qualifications (e.g. CACHE Level 2/3, Teaching Assistant qualification)
  • Experience in a primary school setting
