SEN Teaching Assistant – Burgess Hill

We are seeking a dedicated individual to join a welcoming primary school in Burgess Hill, supporting pupils with a range of Special Educational Needs (SEN). This is a fantastic opportunity to make a real difference while gaining valuable experience in a supportive school environment.
This role is ideal for candidates with experience as a Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant (LSA), SEN Support Worker, or those looking to start a career in education.
Key Responsibilities
- Support pupils with a range of Special Educational Needs (SEN) on a 1:1 basis and in small groups
- Work with children with autism (ASC), ADHD, speech and language needs, and SEMH
- Assist in delivering targeted interventions and personalised learning support
- Work closely with the SENCo and class teachers to implement EHCP targets
- Support pupils’ social, emotional, and academic development
- Help maintain a positive, inclusive, and engaging learning environment
Requirements
- Experience working with children or young people (school or care setting desirable)
- A strong interest in SEN and inclusive education
- Patient, nurturing, and adaptable approach
- Good communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to take initiative and follow guidance from teaching staff
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
Desirable
- Experience supporting pupils with EHCPs
- Relevant qualifications (e.g. CACHE Level 2/3, Teaching Assistant qualification)
- Experience in a primary school setting
