Teaching Personnel is the UK's leading education recruitment agency. We are currently seeking an SEN teaching assistant to work at one of our local school's in Bournemouth. The school is a Pupil Referral Unit in Bournemouth, catering for Primary aged pupils who have been excluded from mainstream education. This includes pupils who are temporarily excluded, permanently excluded and pupils with SEN (Autism, ADHD, SEMH). The pupils can display challenging behaviour.
What the role involves:
- working within the class to support the class teacher with their lessons
- working alongside a team of support staff in class
- working on a 1:1 basis with students
- driver roles available
This is a full time role, starting immediately. It is a temporary position but there is the opportunity to go permanent for the right candidate.
To be successful in this role it is desirable if you:
- have experience working within a school setting
- have experience working with children and/or adults with challenging behaviour
- are resilient and confident working with challenging behaviour
- have a good understanding of Special Educational Needs, or a willingness to learn
- are able to demonstrate a good understanding of the role of a Teaching Assistant in a special needs school
- Have the ability to engage pupils in their learning and support them in their social, emotional and personal wellbeing
The successful candidate must:
- Be confident working with challenging behaviour
- Be resilient
- For driving roles you must hold a UK full drivers licence and have 'business' car insurance
