SEN Teaching Assistant - Bolton
Special Educational Needs (SEN) Teaching Assistant required for a well respected Roman Catholic secondary school based in Bolton.
- SEN Teaching Assistant - Starting in September2018
- Supporting identified pupils and pupils on the Autistic Spectrum (ASC) on a 1:1 basis
- 12 month temporary position starting in September, with the potential of securing a permanent position dependent on performance and funding
- Typical earnings of £1000-£1200 per month depending on experience.
- Previous experience working with students with Special Education Needs is essential to be considered for this position.
With a recent resignation in the schools support department and a number of students with Special Educational Needs joining the school in September, the SENCO at our client Secondary school would like to appoint an SEN Teaching Assistant as a matter of urgency.
The SENCO wishes to appoint an SEN Teaching Assistant who has experience working alongside students that have identified needs, students with ASC and children that show signs of challenging behaviour. The school have highlighted that the incoming SEN Teaching Assistant must be able to work alongside students, promoting positive learning and behaviour whenever possible and are able to help them make consistent improvements in class. The successful SEN Teaching Assistant must have a calming nature when working alongside students with SEN needs and be able to identify and defuse stressful situations before they escalate.

- This is a relatively small 11-16 school with around 860 students on roll
- The school is a short drive away from the M61 making car commute easy
- Located in Bolton, in the Horwich area public transport links are very accessible to the surrounding areas, Bury, Rochdale, Manchester and Wigan.
- The exceptional leadership of the executive head teacher and newly appointed senior leaders has strengthened the school's capacity to raise achievement for all students
- As the school is a Roman Catholic School it is important that you respect the strong catholic ethos that it holds.
To be successful in the role of an SEN teaching assistant you will need to display a patient and empathetic personality, previous relevant experience in a work or educational capacity, suitable references and eligibility for a fully enhanced DBS certificate.
