Position: SEN Teaching Assistant

Location:  Ashford, Kent 

Contract Type: Full-time, long term (Temp to perm is possible) 

Salary: £85105 a day 

Hours: 8:30-15:30 Mon-Fri

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join one of our thriving SEN schools in the heart of Ashford. 

About the School:  

The school we are working with is a thriving and inclusive educational institution committed to providing a supportive and enriching learning environment for all students ages 4-16. This school caters to a wide range of special education needs (SEN) such as Autistic Spectrum Conditions (ASC), social, emotional and mental health needs (SEMH), language and communication needs, sensory processing needs, trauma and Opposition Defiant Disorder (ODD). 

This school has a dedicated team of educators and support staff that work collaboratively to empower our students to achieve their full potential and embrace students’ unique styles of learning. 

Role and Responsibilities: 

  • Providing 1:1 or small group support to students with SEN, adapting teaching methods to meet individual learning styles. 

  • Assisting the Class Teacher in creating and implementing tailored learning plans. 

  • Promoting a positive and inclusive classroom environment. 

  • Monitoring and recording students' progress and contributing to progress reviews. 

  • Participating in training and professional development opportunities. 

  • Supporting the pupils emotionally alongside their studies. 

Experience and Requirements: 

  • Experience working with children, young people or adults with SEN. 

  • A patient, empathetic, and nurturing approach to working with students. 

  • A driving licence is preferred due to the location of the school. 

  • Knowledge of SEN strategies and interventions. 

  • A commitment to promoting inclusivity and diversity within the school community. 

  • Personal experience with SEN (not essential) 

  • Psychology, Criminology and Social Science degrees (not essential)

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
