This is a unique opportunity to join the school at the beginning of its journey and play a key role in creating a positive, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment for pupils with a range of Additional Learning Needs (ALN).

As an SEN Teacher, you will be responsible for planning and delivering engaging, differentiated lessons that meet the individual needs of pupils. Working closely with Teaching Assistants, support staff, and the wider multidisciplinary team, you will help pupils develop academically, socially, emotionally, and personally.

About the Role

As an SEN Teacher, you will:

• Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons tailored to individual pupil needs.

• Support pupils with a range of Special Educational Needs and Additional Learning Needs (ALN).

• Create a safe, nurturing, structured, and inclusive classroom environment.

• Develop and implement personalised learning approaches where required.

• Use a range of teaching strategies to support different learning styles and abilities.

• Work closely with Teaching Assistants and support staff to ensure pupils receive appropriate support.

• Monitor, assess, and record pupil progress, adapting teaching approaches where necessary.

• Support pupils with communication, social, emotional, behavioural, sensory, and independence needs.

• Promote positive behaviour and encourage pupils to develop confidence and self-esteem.

• Build positive and trusting relationships with pupils, families, and colleagues.

• Work collaboratively with the wider multidisciplinary team to support pupil development and wellbeing.

• Contribute to creating positive routines, expectations, and a strong school culture from the outset.

• Participate in meetings, reviews, and other school activities as required.

We Are Seeking Someone Who:

• Has Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification.

• Has a genuine passion for working with children and young people with SEN/ALN.

• Has experience teaching pupils with additional needs, ideally within a specialist or SEN setting.

• Is patient, compassionate, resilient, and adaptable.

• Can plan and deliver engaging lessons that are appropriately differentiated.

• Has high expectations for pupil progress while recognising individual needs and abilities.

• Can build positive relationships with pupils, colleagues, and families.

• Is confident managing behaviour using positive and supportive strategies.

• Works effectively both independently and as part of a wider team.

• Has excellent communication, organisation, and interpersonal skills.

• Is enthusiastic about contributing to the development of a new school environment.

Previous experience within an SEN school, specialist provision, PRU, mainstream school with SEN provision, or another educational setting supporting pupils with additional needs is desirable.

Teaching Personnel provides guidance and support for obtaining the following:

• Education Workforce Council (EWC) Registration

• Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service

• References covering two years of employment
