Teaching Personnel is currently recruiting for an SEN Teacher to join an established specialist school in the Tonypandy area. This is a fantastic opportunity to become part of a supportive and experienced school team, working with pupils who have a range of Special Educational Needs and Additional Learning Needs (ALN).

As an SEN Teacher, you will plan and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons that are tailored to the individual needs of your pupils. Working closely with Teaching Assistants, support staff, and the wider school team, you will help pupils develop academically, socially, emotionally, and personally.

About the Role

As an SEN Teacher, you will:

• Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons tailored to individual pupil needs.

• Support pupils with a range of Special Educational Needs and Additional Learning Needs (ALN).

• Create a safe, nurturing, structured, and inclusive classroom environment.

• Develop personalised learning approaches to meet individual pupil needs.

• Use a range of teaching strategies to support different learning styles and abilities.

• Work closely with Teaching Assistants and support staff to provide effective pupil support.

• Monitor, assess, and record pupil progress, adapting teaching approaches where necessary.

• Support pupils with communication, social, emotional, behavioural, sensory, and independence needs.

• Promote positive behaviour and encourage pupils to develop confidence and self-esteem.

• Build positive and trusting relationships with pupils, families, and colleagues.

• Work collaboratively with the wider school team and other professionals to support pupil development and wellbeing.

• Contribute to a positive and inclusive school environment.

• Participate in meetings, reviews, and other school activities as required.

We Are Seeking Someone Who:

• Has Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification.

• Has a genuine passion for working with children and young people with SEN/ALN.

• Has experience teaching pupils with additional needs, ideally within a specialist or SEN setting.

• Is patient, compassionate, resilient, and adaptable.

• Can plan and deliver engaging lessons that are appropriately differentiated.

• Has high expectations for pupil progress while recognising individual needs and abilities.

• Can build positive relationships with pupils, colleagues, and families.

• Is confident managing behaviour using positive and supportive strategies.

• Works effectively both independently and as part of a wider team.

• Has excellent communication, organisation, and interpersonal skills.

• Is committed to creating positive learning experiences for pupils.

Previous experience within an SEN school, specialist provision, PRU, mainstream school with SEN provision, or another educational setting supporting pupils with additional needs is desirable.

Requirements

Teaching Personnel provides guidance and support for obtaining the following:

• Education Workforce Council (EWC) Registration

• Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service

• References covering two years of employment
