We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated SEN Teacher to join the team at a brand-new Specialist Resource Base (SRB) in a vibrant and welcoming primary school in the CF11 area.

About the Role:

This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in shaping and developing a new SRB provision for pupils with ALN, primarily autism. The class will support a small group of pupils (KS1 or KS2) with complex needs, providing targeted teaching and personalised interventions in a structured, supportive environment.

You will work alongside experienced Teaching Assistants, external specialists, and the school’s ALNCo to ensure every child receives a high-quality, individualised education that meets their academic, emotional, and social needs.

✅ Main Responsibilities:

  • Lead the planning, delivery, and assessment of a broad and balanced curriculum tailored to the individual needs of pupils with autism and additional learning needs.

  • Use a range of strategies including TEACCH, PECS, sensory integration approaches, and communication-focused interventions to support pupil progress.

  • Create a highly structured, calm, and nurturing classroom environment that promotes routine, regulation, and positive relationships.

  • Work closely with families, multi-agency professionals, and support staff to implement EHCPs and targeted plans effectively.

  • Contribute to the ongoing development and strategic direction of the new SRB within the wider school.

  • Maintain rigorous tracking of progress and use this to inform next steps and celebrate achievements.

  • Embed inclusive practices and ensure every child has access to high expectations and enriching learning experiences.

‍ About You:

We are looking for a teacher who is:

  • Qualified (QTS essential) with experience of working with children with ALN, particularly those with autism.

  • Patient, emotionally intelligent, and able to build strong relationships with children who may present with communication and behavioural challenges.

  • Skilled in adapting and differentiating the curriculum to meet a wide range of learning needs.

  • Collaborative and reflective, with a commitment to professional development and continuous improvement.

  • Calm under pressure and confident in managing complex situations with empathy and consistency.

Desirable:

  • Previous experience working within an SRB, special school, or highly inclusive mainstream setting.

  • Knowledge of key autism-specific strategies (TEACCH, PECS, Zones of Regulation, Attention Autism, etc.)

  • Team Teach or other behaviour management training (training can be provided if needed).

  • Experience with EHCP processes, ALN transformation reforms, and person-centred planning.

About the School:

This is a caring and inclusive primary school committed to enabling every child to succeed. The leadership team is forward-thinking and supportive, and staff are passionate about providing a safe, stimulating, and nurturing environment.
