SEN Teaching Assistant, Camden, West Hampstead

An 'outstanding' three form entry school in Camden, NW6 are looking for a strong SEN Teaching Assistant to join their KS2 Team after the Easter break. The school are recruiting for a Year 5 SEN TA with experience working with pupils with ASC, ADHD and Global Delay. This school is rated "Outstanding" by Ofsted and have an incredibly strong leadership team. The school is a short walk from West Hampstead Underground station (Jubliee) and Overground stations.

The teachers and teaching assistants are very skilled at helping all the children in their class learn, whatever their needs. Two learning mentors, an art therapist and a senior educational psychologist are available to also help children when they need more support. The children from Year 3 to Year 6 all have a responsibility such as buddying younger children or being mediators to help each other sort out any friendship issues. They learn to help other each other and they learn important life skills at the same time.

Job Specification:

Role: Specialist Teaching Assistant (Year 5)

SEN Experience: ASC, ADHD and Global Delay

Type: Full-time, until the end of the academic year

(Possible extension for the right candidate)

Pay: £65-£80 per day dependent on experience

Start: 25/04/2019

The successful candidate would display the following:

  • Experience and knowledge of working with children with a wide range of abilities
  • Knowledge and expertise working with children with ASC, ADHD and Global Delay
  • A strong understanding of KS2 curriculum
  • An interest, motivation and passion for working with special needs children and developing skills to facilitate this
  • Be a team-player, hard-working and proactive
  • Secure knowledge and skills relating to strategies in working with pupils with Complex Learning Needs
  • Ability to self-evaluate learning needs and actively seek learning opportunities
  • Commitment, initiative and reliability
