Job description

Teaching Personnel – SEN Support Assistant (KS1) – September Start

Teaching Personnel is seeking a dedicated and resilient SEN Support Assistant to join a welcoming primary school in the OL12 area (Rochdale) from September. This is a full-time position (5 days per week), offering a rewarding opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of young learners.

Location & Transport Links:
The school is based in OL12, with good access via local bus routes and road links. It is easily commutable from surrounding areas such as Rochdale town centre, Whitworth, and Bacup, making it a convenient location for candidates across the borough and nearby towns.

Role Overview:
You will be providing 1:1 and small group support for two children in Key Stage 1 (KS1) with special educational needs. The role requires a proactive and patient individual who is confident working with challenging behaviour and committed to supporting pupils’ academic and emotional development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supporting two pupils with SEN on a daily basis
  • Implementing strategies set by the SENDCo
  • Using Now and Next boards to support routines and transitions
  • Assisting the class teacher with EHCP targets and learning plans
  • Promoting positive behaviour and engagement in learning
  • Building strong, supportive relationships with pupils and staff

Requirements:

  • Essential: Previous experience working in a school setting
  • Highly desirable: Level 2 or Level 3 qualification in a relevant field
  • Strong behaviour management skills
  • A calm, consistent, and empathetic approach
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team

Working Hours & Pay:

  • Full-time: 5 days per week
  • Pay rate: £14.75 per hour
