Job description

SEN Teaching Assistants

  • Location: Kettering
  • Salary: £75– £90 per day (dependent on experience)
  • Job Type: Full-time, Monday–Friday
  • Hours: 8:30am – 3:30pm (may vary by up to 45 minutes)

About the Role

We are working in partnership with several SEN schools across Kettering who are looking to recruit SEN Teaching Assistants to support pupils either 1:1 or in small groups.

No previous school experience is required – if you have the right attitude, passion, and commitment to work with children, you’ll be fully supported in making the transition into education.


Key Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support to students with SEN.
  • Support teachers in delivering personalised learning plans.
  • Foster a nurturing, safe, and inclusive environment for all learners.
  • Assist with classroom activities and routines.
  • Implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) under guidance.
  • Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and support staff.
  • Encourage and motivate students in their academic and social development.

What We’re Looking For

Essential:

  • A genuine passion for working with children.
  • A proactive and positive attitude – must be able to use initiative.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • UK residency or police clearance if recently relocated.
  • Willingness to apply for or already hold a DBS on the Update Service.

Desirable (but not essential):

  • Experience working with SEN pupils.
  • Background in care, support work, youth work, the military, emergency services, or sports coaching.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
