SEN Support Assistant – Visual Impairments / Braille | West Yorkshire
Location: West Yorkshire (flexible)
Daily Rate: £95–£110/day | Contract: Full-time, term-time | Start Date: ASAP
We are seeking an experienced SEN Support Assistant to work with pupils who have visual impairments, including those who use Braille or other specialist access methods. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with experience supporting pupils with sensory needs to make a meaningful impact in education.
Key Responsibilities:

Provide 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with visual impairments

Assist pupils in accessing curriculum content using Braille, large print, or assistive technology

Support mobility, orientation, and independence skills

Collaborate with teachers, VI specialists, and therapists to implement individual learning plans

Promote social, emotional, and academic development in a structured, inclusive environment
Requirements:
-
Experience supporting pupils with visual impairments in school, specialist provision, or care settings

Knowledge of Braille, assistive technology, or other visual impairment strategies

Full DBS on Update Service (or willingness to apply)

Full-time availability, Monday to Friday, during school hours

Patience, empathy, and excellent communication skills
Desirable:
- Full UK driving license

Background in teaching, care work, or related fields

Psychology, education, or specialism in sensory impairment

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
