A special school in Keighley are seeking a full time Teaching Assistant to commence September 2019.
The successful candidate will complete a strong team and contribute to the school's existing success (Ofsted Outstanding in 2017). The school is looking for an enthusiastic and committed team member, who is able to relate well to young people with a range of complex needs including Severe Learning Difficulties, Autistic Spectrum Conditions, Physical Disabilities and Speech, Language and Communication Needs. You will be required to work collaboratively with a multi disciplinary team of teaching staff, psychologists, medical staff and therapists.
You will provide high quality support for the learning, personal care, communication and physical needs of students, working across a range of ages and abilities (2-19). You should have experience of managing challenging behaviour and have a willingness to develop this further. You may also possess a Team Teach or equivalent training certificate. Teaching assistants also contribute towards students' formal and informal assessment and help build effective relationships between home and school.

As a Special Needs Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with class teaches to deliver an engaging and differentiated curriculum. You will be required to assist pupils both in and outside of the classroom, including duties over break and lunch times. You will be prepared to assist pupils with feeding, and with personal care as necessary.
Key responsibilities:
- To plan, resource, deliver, monitor and review progress for children with SEN on individual/group programmes within the classroom
- To implement programmes as instructed from Speech and Language, Occupational or Physio Therapists
- Create a positive working relationship and environment conducive to effective learning for children with SEN
- Contribute to the overall ethos of the school acting as a role model and setting high expectations
- Participate in training, other learning activities and performance development as required
- Use specialist skills and training to encourage children with SEN to benefit from the planned learning activities, including modifying the class teacher's planned activities to meet the needs of specific pupils
- Provide positive and supportive feedback to pupils and parents
- Be aware of and comply with policies and procedures relating to child protection, equal opportunities, health and safety, confidentiality and data protection
