Job description

SEN Secondary Teacher

We are recruiting an enthusiastic and dedicated SEN Secondary Teacher to join a supportive specialist secondary school in Tameside, working with pupils aged 11–16. The school provides a structured, inclusive and nurturing environment where pupils are supported to access learning, build confidence and achieve positive outcomes.

Pupils within the setting may present with a range of additional needs, including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), ADHD, Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, speech, language and communication difficulties, and moderate learning difficulties. Many pupils benefit from clear routines, consistent boundaries and a calm, relationship-led approach to teaching.

You will work closely with experienced teaching assistants, SENCOs, pastoral staff and external professionals to deliver tailored learning and support pupils’ academic progress and emotional wellbeing.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons to meet individual SEN needs
  • Adapt the curriculum to ensure all pupils can access learning
  • Create a calm, structured and inclusive classroom environment
  • Implement EHCP targets, individual learning plans and behaviour strategies
  • Support pupils with emotional regulation and engagement in learning
  • Work collaboratively with support staff and the wider SEN team
  • Monitor progress and celebrate pupil achievements

Ideal Candidate

  • Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Has experience working with SEN pupils or a strong interest in specialist education
  • Is patient, resilient and adaptable in their teaching approach
  • Confident in using positive behaviour management strategies
  • Has strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Committed to safeguarding and inclusive education

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
