Learning Support Assistant

Andover, Hampshire | £14.25 per hour | Monday–Friday, Term Time Only

Looking for a job where you can make a real difference?

If you enjoy helping people, building positive relationships and seeing others grow, this could be the role for you.

We’re looking for friendly, patient and enthusiastic Learning Support Assistants to join a specialist school in the Andover area. You’ll be supporting children and young people with a range of additional needs, including autism, communication difficulties, moderate learning difficulties and SEMH needs.

You don’t need to have worked in a school before. We’re interested in people with the right attitude who genuinely want to support young people and are willing to learn.

What will you be doing?

Every day will be different. You’ll work alongside teachers, therapists and other support staff to help pupils get the most out of their school day.

Your role could include:

  • Supporting pupils individually or in small groups

  • Helping with classroom activities and learning

  • Encouraging communication, confidence and independence

  • Supporting pupils with emotional regulation and positive behaviour

  • Building trusting relationships and being a consistent source of support

  • Helping develop social and everyday life skills

  • Supporting pupils during breaktimes, transitions and activities

  • Working as part of a friendly and supportive school team

Could this be you?

You might already have experience in education, care, youth work, childcare, healthcare, coaching, mentoring or customer service — but experience isn’t essential.

What matters most is that you are:

  • Caring, patient and approachable

  • Calm and resilient

  • Positive and willing to learn

  • Comfortable working as part of a team

  • Genuinely interested in helping young people succeed

If you’re looking for a change of career, your first role in education, or simply a job that feels more meaningful, we’d love to hear from you.

Why join?

You’ll receive ongoing support and training while gaining valuable experience in specialist education and SEND.

You’ll also benefit from:

  • Term-time-only hours

  • £14.25 per hour

  • A supportive and welcoming team

  • Training and professional development

  • The opportunity to build a rewarding career in education and SEND

  • The satisfaction of seeing the difference you make every day

Interested?

If this sounds like the kind of role you’d enjoy, we’d love to hear from you.

Send us your up-to-date CV and take the first step towards a rewarding role supporting young people.
