Job Title: Special Educational Needs (SEN) Higher Level Teaching Assistant

Location: Camberley, Surrey

Contract: Full-time / Part-time

Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience

 

About the Role

Teaching Personnel are working alongside many warm and welcoming schools in the Camberley area who are seeking caring, passionate and dedicated Special Educational Needs (SEN) Higher Level Teaching Assistants to join their knowledgable teams. This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about helping children with additional needs consistently reach their full potential, both academically and emotionally.

As a Higher Level Teaching Assistant you will work closely with class teachers, SENCOs, and other educational professionals within the setting to support pupils with a range of needs, including autism (ASD), ADHD, speech and language difficulties, and social, emotional, and mental health needs (SEMH). You will also be supporting pupils to encourage independence, confidence, and positive self-esteem, as well as supporting pupils during lessons, break times, and transitions throughout the school day.

 

Key Roles and Responsibilities

1. Provide 1-2-1 and small group support for all pupils with special educational needs

2. Assist class teachers in delivering tailored curriculum

3. Adapting learning activities and routines to meet individual pupil needs

3. Support pupils with emotional regulation, social skills, and behaviour management

4. Help implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs), Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs), and targeted interventions

7. Monitor progress and provide feedback to teachers and the SEN team

8. Maintain a safe, inclusive, and nurturing learning environment

 

The Ideal Candidate...

1. Has relevant experience working with children with SEN (in a school or similar setting)

2. Is patient, empathetic, and resilient

3. Has great communication and teamwork skills

4. Has a genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs

5. Holds relevant qualifications suitable for HLTA positions

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
