SEMH Youth Worker
Job description
Are you a highly motivated and keen Youth Worker looking to make a strong impact in young people’s lives?
Teaching Personnel are currently working with Special Provision schools across Rochdale to recruit compassionate and eager Youth Workers, to support children with behavioural, emotional and trauma related needs. The schools have amazing facilities to best support the personal development of young people aged 11 to 18, and they have a reputation for commitment, inclusion and equality for each pupil.
This role is ideal for someone with experience in working with challenging behaviour and young people facing social, emotional and mental health needs, who is looking for flexibility while working within a structured and supportive school environment.
Key responsibilities:
- Supporting pupils with SEMH needs on a 1 to 1 and small group basis
- Manage behaviour appropriately and positively using de-escalation strategies
- Supporting engagement, emotional sensitivity and learning
- Work closely wit teachers and school staff to best support pupils
- Help maintain a safe, calm and consistent learning environment
Requirements:
- Previous experience working with young people with SEMH needs
- Previous experience working in an educational setting (desired not essential)
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Team teach trained and or experience with challenging behaviour
- Have a proactive and approachable personality

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
