About the Role

We are seeking an experienced SEMH Tutor from any subject background to provide personalised, impactful support to students in Newbury. You will work with young people facing a range of social, emotional, and mental health challenges; including anxiety, dyslexia, and low self-esteem, helping them realise their strengths and achieve their potential.

Key responsibilities:

  • Assessing individual needs and designing tailored schemes of work
  • Planning and delivering engaging, accessible lessons
  • Creating a safe, nurturing environment where students feel listened to and valued
  • Building trusting relationships that foster academic and emotional growth
  • Monitoring progress and adapting strategies for maximum impact
  • Liaising with families, schools, and professionals to support holistic progress

About You

You are a patient, empathetic educator who can:

  • Assess, plan, and deliver bespoke lessons for a range of SEMH needs
  • Demonstrate experience supporting students with anxiety, dyslexia, and low self-esteem
  • Adapt your teaching style to suit individual learners
  • Communicate with warmth, clarity, and professionalism
  • Champion every student’s confidence and resilience

You must have QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) or a minimum of 5 years’ teaching or tutoring experience. Enhanced DBS required.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
