SEMH Teaching Assistant – Wakefield (WF1/WF2)
Daily Rate: £90–£105/day | Full-Time | Long-Term | Temp-to-Perm
We are recruiting a dedicated SEMH Teaching Assistant to join a specialist provision in Wakefield, supporting young people with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. This is a rewarding opportunity for someone with the passion and resilience to make a real difference.
The Role:

Provide 1:1 and small group support to pupils with SEMH needs.

Build positive, trusting relationships to encourage engagement in learning.

Support pupils with behaviour regulation and emotional resilience.

Work closely with teachers and behaviour mentors to implement strategies.

Assist with classroom routines, transitions, and off-site activities.
-
Promote inclusion and help pupils develop social and communication skills.
What We’re Looking For:
-
Experience working with young people with challenging behaviour or SEMH (school, youth work, or care background).

Calm, patient, and resilient approach with strong behaviour management skills.

Team Teach training (desirable, but can be provided).
-
Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (child or child and adult workforce) or willingness to apply.

Full-time availability – reliability is key.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
