Teaching Assistant – SEMH School (Southampton Area)

Through Teaching Personnel

£13.75 per hour | Term Time Only 

Are you passionate about supporting young people with social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs? Teaching Personnel is looking for a dedicated and resilient Teaching Assistant to join a specialist SEMH school in the Southampton area. This school supports a mixed-age group of primary and secondary pupils, providing a rewarding and dynamic environment for the right candidate.

Key Details:

  • Location: Southampton area

  • Pay: £13.75 per hour

  • Contract: Term Time Only (Monday to Friday)

  • Start Date: ASAP or September

  • Hours: Full-time (approx. 8:30am – 3:30pm)

About the Role:

You will work closely with pupils who have a range of SEMH needs, supporting their academic, emotional, and behavioural development. Each day offers new opportunities to positively impact young lives.

Responsibilities:

  • Supporting students in the classroom and on a 1:1 or small group basis

  • Assisting teachers with planning and delivering engaging activities

  • Helping manage classroom behaviour with positive strategies

  • Building strong, supportive relationships with students, staff, and families

What We’re Looking For:

  • Experience working with children or young people with SEMH needs (preferred)

  • A calm, patient, and resilient approach

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

  • A genuine passion for helping students succeed

  • Willingness to undergo an enhanced DBS check (or already registered on the update service)

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
