EMH Teaching Assistant – Secondary Alternative Provision
Littlehampton, West Sussex
Full-Time | Term Time Only
Competitive salary dependent on experience
A supportive and inclusive Alternative Provision in Littlehampton is seeking a dedicated and resilient SEMH Teaching Assistant to join the team as soon as possible.
This is a rewarding opportunity to work with secondary-aged pupils who require additional emotional and behavioural support to engage positively with education and reach their potential.
The Role
You will work closely with teachers and support staff to provide classroom and pastoral support for pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. The role will involve supporting learning, promoting positive behaviour, helping pupils regulate emotions, and building strong, trusting relationships.
You may work with pupils on a one-to-one basis, in small groups, or within the classroom environment.
We Are Looking For Someone Who:
- Is calm, patient and resilient
- Has experience working with young people, ideally within education, care or support settings
- Understands the importance of relationship-building and consistency
- Can support pupils with challenging behaviour in a positive and nurturing way
- Works well as part of a team
- Has good communication and interpersonal skills
- Experience with SEMH, SEND or Alternative Provision settings is desirable but not essential

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
