SEMH Teaching Assistant – Primary School, Litherland

Location: Litherland, Merseyside
Start Date: January 2026
Contract: Temporary to Permanent

Are you passionate about supporting children with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs? A small, welcoming primary school in Litherland is seeking a dedicated SEMH Teaching Assistant to join their Special Educational Needs (SEN) unit.

About the Role

  • Work closely with pupils who have SEMH needs, providing tailored support to help them thrive in a nurturing environment.
  • Assist the class teacher and SEN team in delivering individualised learning plans.
  • Promote positive behaviour and emotional regulation strategies.
  • Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils to support their academic and personal development.

What We’re Looking For

  • Experience working with children with SEMH or other additional needs (school-based or similar setting).
  • A calm, patient, and resilient approach.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, SENCO, and external professionals.
  • A genuine passion for making a difference in children’s lives.
