SEMH Teaching Assistant
Burnley (11–16 Setting)
£13.75 – £14.50 per hour
Monday–Friday | 8:30am–3:30pm
We are seeking a resilient, compassionate and confident SEMH Teaching Assistant to join a specialist secondary provision in Burnley, supporting students aged 11–16 with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.
This is a rewarding opportunity for someone with strong behaviour management skills and experience supporting young people with challenging behaviours, either professionally or through relevant personal experience.
The Role:

Supporting students with SEMH needs in and out of the classroom
-
Managing and de-escalating challenging behaviours using positive behaviour strategies
-
Building strong, trusting relationships with pupils
-
Supporting learning, emotional regulation and social development
-
Working closely with teaching staff and pastoral teams to provide consistent support
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
-
Proven experience working with challenging behaviours (school, youth work, care, PRU, alternative provision, or similar) or relevant personal experience

Strong behaviour management and de-escalation skills
-
A calm, patient and resilient approach

The ability to set clear boundaries while remaining empathetic

A genuine passion for supporting vulnerable young people

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
