Teaching Personnel

Teaching Personnel are seeking a dedicated and resilient SEMH Primary Teacher to support a specialist provision in the Salford area from September. This full-time role is ideal for a passionate educator with experience supporting children with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs—such as anxiety, low self-esteem, attachment difficulties, trauma-related behaviours or emotional dysregulation—who can provide nurturing, structured and personalised learning experiences.


The Role

As an SEMH Primary Teacher working through Teaching Personnel, you will:

  • Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons tailored to the individual needs of pupils with SEMH.
  • Create and maintain a safe, supportive and emotionally nurturing classroom environment.
  • Work closely with behaviour mentors, SENCOs and support staff to ensure a consistent, child-centred approach.
  • Monitor pupil progress, adapting learning plans and strategies where needed.
  • Implement effective behaviour regulation and de-escalation techniques to encourage positive engagement.
  • Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils, families and colleagues.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) – essential.
  • Experience working with children with SEMH needs, ideally within a specialist or alternative provision.
  • A current Enhanced Child & Adult Workforce DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply through Teaching Personnel).
  • Excellent behaviour management skills and a calm, adaptable approach.
  • Strong communication, resilience and a genuine passion for supporting vulnerable learners.

Team Teach certification is highly desirable, though not essential as training can be provided.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
