SEMH Learning Support Mentor

We have the opportunity for someone with either education experience of 1:1 work or transferable skills to work with disengaged students with ASC as a Support Assistant. The students struggle with the day to day schedule of a school day due to a number of factors, whether it be the environment, SEMH, Anxiety or their Peers. The purpose of Support Assistants role is to build a positive working relationship to develop an understand of the behaviour and triggers of the student. As a Support Assistant you would be expect to see beyond the obvious behaviour to help them discover coping strategies in order to maximise their lesson time and outcomes to learning. The students can range from Mild Autism to very complex needs and as a Support Assistant you must be prepared to work with all levels across the school. The Students require consistency of staff to build a positive relationships with the Support Assistants as the don't always cope well with change.

If you would like the opportunity to work as a Support Assistant in a Specialist ASC provision with children from the age 8-19. The role is for St Austell and another based in the North Cornwall area.

All applicants will require the appropriate qualification and training for this role. For teacher roles, we require a formally recognised teaching qualification. For Support staff our minimum requirement is GCSE English & Maths (A-C) or equivalent.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay.
