Teaching Personnel are seeking a passionate and resilient KS4 Teacher to join a specialist SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) School in the Leigh area, starting in September. This is a full-time opportunity to work with students aged 14-16 years (Key Stage 4) who require additional support to access education due to a range of SEMH needs, including anxiety, attachment disorders, trauma-related behaviours, emotional dysregulation, low self-esteem, social communication difficulties, ADHD, and other barriers that impact learning and engagement in school.

You will play a key role in helping pupils build confidence, develop resilience, and prepare for their next steps in education, training, or employment.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons that meet the individual needs of KS4 learners.
• Foster a safe, supportive, and inclusive classroom environment.
• Build positive and trusting relationships with students to encourage engagement and progress.
• Implement effective behaviour management and de-escalation strategies in line with school policies.
• Support students in achieving academic qualifications and personal development targets.
• Work collaboratively with teaching assistants, pastoral teams, senior leaders, and external professionals.
• Promote positive outcomes, attendance, and wellbeing among students.

Requirements

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
• Experience teaching secondary-aged pupils, ideally at KS4 level.
• Previous experience working with students with SEMH needs is highly desirable.
• Strong behaviour management skills and the ability to build positive relationships with vulnerable learners.
• A patient, resilient, and nurturing approach.
• Excellent communication and organisational skills.
• A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one through Teaching Personnel.
